Leukemia CupThe Maryland Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society held the 24th Annual Annapolis Leukemia Mug Regatta on June 3rd and 4th. 96 boats participated in the Regatta and $220,000 was raised for the mission of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Leukemia Mug Sailing Regatta is a thrilling collection of events that combine the joy of boating along with the crucial task of raising your hard earned cash to cure cancer. The Harbor 20s had the largest class along with 24 boats on the water. Later in the morning was the “Every one of Wrists on Deck” Youngsters Kruz and Luncheon, Sponsored by Chic-Fil-A and hosted by Eastport Yacht Club. Survivors and their families viewed a cruise on the water along with Pirate Adventures, and returned to the yard of EYC for a lunch and painting activity. Governor Hogan, lymphoma survivor, signed each burgee the kids painted. The weekend break concluded along with the 2nd Annual Rock the Dock for a Cure Celebration and Awards Ceremony at the Eastport Yacht Club. This event featured the Regatta class awards and live entertainment by Swamp Candy Newgrass and Pressing Strings, BBQ by Grills on Wheels, beer, wine and the famous Frozen Mango Goslings Rum drink. Over 300 people attended the event, and a excellent time was had by sailors and community members. EYC, Sailors for the Sea and Annapolis Green helped assist in a Gold Certified Clean Regatta and recycling, composting and various other green initiatives on the grounds of EYC for the Saturday events.
